So, what do you guys think of Mel Gibson's latest antics? I used to like him, but now he has got me scratching my head. Thoughts...I know you have some!

Barbar, I feel the same I enjoyed many of his movies. I do have some concerns about the tapes. Young pretty women with an agenda can make a man crazy. I tend to believe the ex wife of many years. I think that if you have a tape recorder and that you want to piss someone off, you don't record what you say to do so, you just record their reaction. I am just saying that he may have been an easy target.

Excellent actor, producer, director. Took one role to many, Bad press and has definitely slipped a groove. The man needs help! Its sad!

You are right on the money, Colonel. Someone actually compared the Gibson tape to the New Black Panther Party hate spew. For Pete's sake! Someone else opined that Mel probably has a hard time being footloose and fancy free (poetic license, mine) after many years of marriage. No excuses for potty mouth, but more believable.

Yes, I am wondering about the agenda myself...her voice was extremely calm in the exchanges. She is young, drop dead gorgeous ( before veneers knocked out) and I am sure she can push buttons, obviously she pushed Mel's.On the X, Robyn, they say she had a calming affect on him, that he has always had anger issues, so I tend to believe the X, when she has publicly stated he never treated or said those things to her.

Agree with you as well...took one role too many, good way to put it. I do think he came unhinged after splitting with the mother of his seven children, I think he still loves her.

No doubt about that. The man is lonely and will do anything but the right thing to find a cure for his lonelyness. He is basically a good man, a devout Catholic and gifted individual, but he has crossed that fine line between genius and insanity.

Yes, I agree, it is a very fine line and even though the media is cutting him no slack, I have to feel sorry for him at this stage in his life.

I adored him when he was younger and refuse to let this spoil my enjoyment of his older movies. Whether this is the result of years of alcohol abuse (actual brain damage or just a "mean drunk") or some underlying mental illness that prompted him to self-medicate with alcohol in the first place, he obviously needs HELP and I hope and pray he gets it. If his wife of 27 years is willing to stand by him through this, then he should hie himself back to Australia and her arms and get the treatment he needs.

Cutiepie....great quote, and seems to fit this issue with Mel. 27 years is a long time and I, too, hope they get back together. Even though he claims he left her because they had no spiritual ground, she obviously was good for him in many other ways. Good luck, Mel.
